Is there a difference between Freeride and Downhill? Yes, freeride is more about technical riding and style than flat out speed.
The freeride in the Algarve, Portugal is based around two mountains, Monchique and Picota. At 1000m and 900m, both descending close to sea level before the foothills take over. Both boast long, technical routes with plenty of jumps, some of the sections follow the lava flow, which can still be seen, down the mountains. This results in spectacular riding and stunning scenery few places in the world can match.
